Pelvic Floor Weakness is No Laughing Matter

An old adage tells us that “laughter is the best medicine!” Laughter might be great medicine, but for the person suffering from pelvic floor weakness, which can lead to urinary incontinence (UI), laughter can cause urine leakage, creating situations that are at least embarrassing and often downright disastrous. In fact, people with UI are often afraid not just to laugh, but also to sneeze, lift heavy objects, exercise … or do nothing at all. But that’s not all. Pelvic floor weakness can also result in pelvic organ prolapse, decreased sexual sensation and be a pre-cursor for all kinds of problems “down there.”
